Update to the VT Community
Update from Presidential Search Committee Chair Nancy Dye
The VT Presidential Search Committee has been working diligently with the assistance of the Isaacson, Miller search firm.
Listening Sessions
Thirty-nine listening sessions have been held with stakeholder groups and individuals. On Monday, July 20th, we traveled to Alexandria to meet with faculty, staff and students at Academic Building One and had a very productive time together.
Additional listening sessions are scheduled and will provide valuable information to both the Committee and the new President.
Surveys
To date, nearly 3000 online surveys have been completed by the VT Community. The survey site remains open, and we value your input.
Candidate Review
At our most recent meeting, we reviewed the large pool of active candidates, prioritizing those we would like Isaacson, Miller to provide further information on. The Search Committee will continue to evaluate candidates brought forward for consideration.
Recognizing that it will be essential to be nimble in a fast-moving and competitive environment, a representative subcommittee was named to interview the final pool of candidates (when chosen) and recommend them to the Board of Visitors, who will conduct final interviews, and then name the new president.
Members of the subcommittee include Rector Jim Miller, Board of Visitors members Starlette Johnson, Chris Ramos, and Robby Moser (previously a member of the Alumni Association Board), and Faculty Senate President and Representative to the Board of Visitors Justin Lemkul, along with myself.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to all who have participated in listening sessions, completed an online survey and especially to the members of the Search Committee. Each of you is the personification of Ut Prosim, “That I may Serve” on behalf of the University.
